Last night, my producer Ernie Petrangelo, Michelle, the kids, and I all converged on The Tennessee Meema's house for a great evening of "HAWAII"!

Between tests at the hospital, work, and all the "catch up"...

An evening at Meema's was just what the doctor ordered!

We barbecued ribs (terriyaki style), and "talked story".

As you might recall, Ernie met Michelle and I in Honolulu for our pit stop on our way to Japan.

He was going to celebrate his 50th birthday Island style!

Did he ever :)

He was already tanned and fit from his beach gig on Block Island (off the coast of Rhode Island) and he fit right in.

Actually, a Japanese tourist on Waikiki stopped to inform him, "You look like summer!"

LOL!

Beach bummin', snorkling, sight seeing, eating Pho Mihn, Korean Barbecue, sushi, and lots of tropical fruit, hangin' with my high school buddies Chris and John, AND taking his first SURFING LESSONS, he lived LARGE!

So, anyway, last night he brought some cool pictures and video he took from the trip, and a surfing movie for all of us to watch.

At the end of the evening, Meema and the kids VERY seriously informed Ernie, Michelle, and me that next time...

We were NOT leaving them behind!!!

Michelle and I got home last week, tried to get a good night's sleep, and then hit the ground running!

It is going to prove to be a VERY busy fall... Wouldn't want it any other way :)

In Japan and Hawaii, we were able to enjoy renewing old friendships, and we made MANY new friends as well!!!

It was an ACTION packed 3 weeks to put it mildly.

In the next week or so, I will be diving back into blogging, sharing concert footage from Japan, and just plain reminiscing!

Reuniting with my high school brothers, Chris and John... Chris and his dad, Gary, and dear Rose opened their home to us and Chris gave us a VERY cool, 4X4 truck to cruise Oahu in... Yeah Brah!

Getting to say a HUGE "Thank You!" to one of my heroes in the Faith, Pastor Mike Palompo. He REALLY impacted my life during my teen years while I was a student "knucklehead" at Radford High school :)

Hanging out with a wild-and-passionate-for-Christ bunch of YWAMers in Japan!

AND a whole bunch of DIVINE appointments that are begging to be shared!

I want to send a BIG "Shout Out" to Tom Kawai for getting all the shows taken care of in Japan!

The first big show is being sponsored by UNESCO, The Shisui Chamber of Commerce, and the BAPTIST CHURCH in Shisui!

It will be AWESOME to see Pastor Yanagihara and his beautiful family! Their church is wonderful and I am looking forward to our service there as well.

Also, my dear friend Naghata was very instrumental in representing me to UNESCO for this event (God bless you my brother!).

I will also be headlining a great outdoor event at Woodstock! The folks who run Woodstock were INCREDIBLE to us last time and the fans were GREAT!

We will also be playing Lonestar again in Tokyo, and some other shows that are still being finalized.

C'MON SUSHI!

AND since we are stopping in Hawaii en route, we are hoping to do a few ministry engagements while we are there. More on that once everything gets finalized :)

I can't wait to see my high school buddy, Chris Byas, and his dad, Gary in Pearl City!

And I am also REALLY hoping to see Mike Polompo, the youth pastor who planted good seed in my heart BEFORE I was right with God... It did take a couple of years before I yielded to God in an undeniable way (check out the interview with Reed Hoffman for details) and I truly made Jesus Lord of my life, but Mike's ministry was a gift from God to me and many other high school youth! I found out on the internet that he now pastors a church in Millilani... Praise God for His faithful servants!!!

You know, I don't think Pastor Mike has any idea I ever truly became a Christian... Hmmmm....

O yes, and we are on target for the internet pre-release of the album! I've been talking to my partners at Torn Sky Records about a VERY COOL DEAL for everyone!

WE will unveil it on the 16th... Wow! That is this Sunday. Time DOES fly :)

Last Tuesday, Michelle and I celebrated 19 years of marriage!

I am amazed at how in love we are...

Well, she's pretty easy to love, but I can be a bit of a handful at times LOL!

I definately married "up", and got a whole lot better than I deserved (Lord, I am VERY grateful!).

Michelle has always amazed me with her steady, pleasant way... Even in the midst of the worst of the health struggles over the last few years, I have felt the best of God's love flow through her.

I was talking with my daughters, Abbi and Kaeli-Anne, last night about what makes for a strong marriage.

As I thought about it, I had to say that for us it has been loving God together... Of course, we each have our own personal relationship with the Lord, but we choose to express that love by worshipping, praying, and celebrating not only as a family, but as a couple.

That... And well, she is my best friend! No cliche here... Just the unvarnished truth!

Our anniversary celebration was pretty simple. A quiet dinner, a little drive together, and then we had a precious visit with Avon Thomas, our Tennessee Meema, and her children and grandchildren. They surprised us with a cake and lots of love!

Phew!

The end of May and the first part of June were something...

I'm not exactly sure what, but it was challenging, faith building, painful, and beautiful... In some ways a REAL roller coaster ride!

I had a biopsy that got infected and put me in the hospital on IV antibiotics over Memorial Day weekend.

Then the results came back showing cancer, after a year that was cancer free.

That was like hitting a speed bump at about 80 mph.

However, I was totally blown away by the intense outpouring of prayer and love by the believers God has so wonderfully put in our lives!

The precious saints at Provision International have been wonderful, and the anointed youth with The Call and Pure Life Revolution have held me up before the throne!

I don't think that space would permit me to name everyone who has humbly taken my need to prayer.

And my business partners, Bob Hayes and Dennis VanHove, have been unbelievably supportive!!!!!

In the short term, we are still deciding what treatments to pursue, and we are still raising money for the long term options.

With some pledges that have come in, we are only $5,600 short of the finances we need to raise for some specific treatment options (please email me if you are interested in the specifics).

That's a HUGE step and puts us about 3/4 of the way to the goal!

I pray God truly pours out His blessing on those who have helped.

Let me tell you, I am READY to just receive the fullness of the healing straight from God... I KNOW that He is well able!

Well, we will keep pressing in.

In the midst of all this, I've been working on video taping some musical "devotions" that we should have up on the website next month.

Also, I did some live recording with Scott Macleod from Provision, of a song I wrote with him for the Pure Life Revolution movement, and we also did an extended LIVE version of JOY UNSPEAKABLE.

I will keep you updated on that as it progresses through overdubs, etc.

AND I will be picking up the fully MASTERED new album RE-Construction tomorrow... Praise You Lord! (And thank you Ernie :)

Okay... I have to confess that I LOVE Florida!

The end of last month I had the pleasure of spending 10 days in Hollywood (close to Miami) in the very COOL digs of friend/brother/co-writer Bryant (You can see and hear him in the "Writer's Shack" area of my website) and his roommate and all-around great guy Bob.

It was all the sweeter because I got to bring my family!

Lots of beach time... Man, does it feel good to just soak in the ocean.

The weather was perfect and in the morning the water was like glass.

Makes me homesick for Hawaii... Maybe next year? :)

We also were able to share in the Passover meal with all the BEAUTIFUL people from Beth T'Filah.

G'don, the rabbi there, is a precious Believer and his fellowship is an incredible mixture of Jew and gentile Believers in unity.

I actually had the privilege of sharing my heart and music at an intimate Friday evening Shabbat service and again at an exuberant Saturday morning service.

I also played at Little Venice, a beach side restraunt.

It was so cool to hear the surf as a backdrop to my music.

Michelle and I got some much needed R & R and the kids wore themselves out on the beach!

The new album, Re-Construction, is basically done!

Ernie is mixing it down and I'm working on the layout for the cover, the liner notes, and all the extras.

Last week we had Jim Pace come in and lay the percussion... Yeah, that's normally done first LOL!

But hey, it worked :)

Jim was INCREDIBLE!

Also, this album has TWO duets on it!

One with my AWESOME wife Michelle, who I am excited to show off!

I had to pull her out of the shadows kicking and screaming :)

... And I only had to beg a little to get him to do my song, JOY UNSPEAKABLE, as a duet with me! (His blessed voice is woven throughout the background of the new album as well... What a treat!)

When he started singing the song in the studio it really was "Joy Unspeakable"!!!!

shhhh... Michelle and the kids are still in bed... Did I ever keep them up late :)

Our dog, Moriah, is snoring loudly at my feet, Christmas lights are still glowing in the tree branches (yeah, its a fake tree... looks pretty though), the spicy warm scent of Christmas Eve is still hanging in the air, and at this moment God's love feels incredibly here and incredibly now...

It is sooooooooo gooooooood to be ALIVE!

2 years ago the outlook was pretty grim.

I praise God for all the ways He has worked...

Prayer, doctors, prayer, alternative medicine, prayer, His miracle working power, prayer, the love of friends and family, prayer, nutrition, etc...

Did I mention prayer?

Not to sound cliche... But life really is a gift.

I don't think that I want to live each day as if it might be my last... That just feels waaaay too frantic (I've tried it...ouch).

I've decided it is much better to live each day as if it is a gift to be unwrapped, played with, savored, and enjoyed simply for what it is...

A NEW day...

Not like yesterday, but it's own unique "present" from God that can only be experienced in the present of the here and now.
